Nine Inch Nails - Mr. Self Destruct (Live at Idroscalo 2009)
This was taken from about 10th row and was shot with phone camera since the battery in big cam died. I hope it makes sense to you - it sure does to me.
I totally love the way they began this song with slow tempo steadily speeding up until - BAM!

This was taken from about 10th row and the sound turned out pretty well knowing my cam usually fucks it up badly. This video is partial because camera battery was nearly empty and i still wanted to shoot a few pictures.

This is an old clip i found on and felt like sharing. From unknown interview, Dave Navarro from Jane's Addiction describes his guitar playing on the track "Been Caught Stealing". I have no idea if there's more of this stuff and if you happen to know where's it from, please let me know.

Trent Reznor on Napster

Short clip from MTV2 interview around The Fragile era. I love it when reporter asked Trent what he thought about artists such as Fred Durst praising "new technology" and Trent answered "He's a moron". I bet today's Trent would want to smack old himself a few times, followed by big manhugging.

I love him
Someone once said this was Jesus Christ.
This was the beggining of his de-twink-fication towards his bara-fication
I personally like his look here. It's a nice mix of his Self-Destruct era hairstyle with his modern bearded look.
I do the same thing Trent...your one ov many inspirations ....
Knew this kid when I was a teenager tried to get me into Napster and limp dickzit..... calls himself Dakota Slim on youtube. He's still a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene.🎹🎤🖲💾🧑💻🔥 And if he tried tontell toy I am attempting to ride his coattails, he has no coattails. And he inspires Noone but himself. Your still a moron. Hear me?
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🎹🎤🧑💻🕹
they should have asked Charlie Clouser

Doesn't he like look one of the bad guys from hairy potter .

wear a mask, it's the right thing to do. Oh yeah, and if you're in America, vote for Biden!
Trent took a fat L on this one lol

Nine payment men guys payment Peggy diablita chaoseym mm army ♥ 💜 😋 for you men $200
Trent kinda looks like he’s wearing dentures
Genius 👍😎 top
For a guy who made such interesting music, he really is kind of a boring guy....
which pixel is trent
Well, to be fair... Trent later clarified in other interviews that it was the Music Industries fault that people took to Napster to illegally downloading music........ And that because with prices for cds and tapes were staying the same or going higher... And having more musicians on the market, it wasn't affordable for people to check out all bands. I remember in the 90s I would sometimes buy 2 tapes instead of 1 cd cuz of the price of the Cds were like 15 or 18 dollars!
I remember watching this intensely at 2 or 3 in the morning one day and feeling at peace. Weird times.
LMAO, yeah. I can't get that out of my head whenever I come back to this. "Lord" bless.
Great interview
Fred who? 😆
wow trent really opened up his mind in those questions, nice interview
glad i missed this performance...christ.
Why you don't like this song? This performance is great. There are some early with teeth performances of this live as well.
@@terry85mar you are saying this to somebody named "Probably Lying"
So Trent stood somewhere between Lars Ulrich and Fred Durst on the issue of music downloading. And he’s not a douchebag like those 2. Well at least he conducted himself in an intelligent and well mannered fashion. He’s one of the nicest cynics, nihilists, and misanthropes out there. 😂
That clip never gets old!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Already Fragile but without teeth yet
I remember watching this live when it aired with a great friend. We couldn't believe NIN was on fucking direct tv haha. This is the end of my fav version of nine in nails. The Fragile is a masterpiece
He looks like a mix of his TDS and nowadays selfs
This guy disrespected the Sharon Tate murder.
He lived in her house for a while and recorded music there, so what. It's not like he urinated on her corpse and laughs manically at the thought of doing so.
He just lived in the house and recorded music there
@@calebdodo5256 yea but he did call it le pig studios
Forgetting about the record and just thinking about live performance, this is probably the most fascinating NIN era for me...it's the last era before he got sober, but the live CHAOS of the "Self-Destruct" era--where the songs being accurately recreated, even things like drumming staying locked in, were completely disregarded in favor of wild energy and, yes, destruction--had already been left behind. So you have a much more 'professional' band, probably the lineup that added the most personal 'non-Trent' touches (Robin Finck's guitar tones/extended delay, use of alternate instruments, etc), and one that was capable of some epic soundscapes as seen in the middle portion of Fragility 2.0 with "La Mer", "Great Below", et al. Yet you also have, by his own description, the "sickest", most strung-out Reznor....it's hard to put my finger on or describe, but its almost like...if "SD" tour was all members firing as hard and fast as possible, and the frontman whipping them on like horses, "Fragility" is this incredibly tight, theatrical band, with a frontman whose technically falling apart placed on top...but that BECOMES a centerpiece of the sound. The vocals are rougher and more desperate than they were before or ever would be later, but they are also FELT more, seem to MEAN more as well...instead of being driven like horses, the band are the net that repeatedly catches their spasming, writhing frontman, trying like hell to escape himself and failing every time
I am too out of it to comment but thanks
NIN went through so many live interations all with their own distinct vibe, it's really interesting. I love the powerhouse presicion of the Slip-era line-up, I especially love the perfectionist stage production of the tension era, both in its stripped down Festival version as well as the perfected, all-out version for the VEVO video.
@@paulquast4004 Oh man, yeah. The live era I saw in person the most was the "With Teeth" one, several times, and I actually loved North, but that's a conversation for another day...by "Tension" I had seen them plenty but decided I needed to finally get GA and get up close no matter what, so I did...that was a surprisingly intense and visceral show, despite the heavy, all out production. Even the added soul backup singers just added to the wild, borderline psychosis vibe on songs like "Into the Void", which was awesome. The one dude who seemed a bit out of place and somewhat amused by the frothing crowd was Pino on bass, but his ability on the instrument just made all that not matter.
Aragorn!
I really love Trent. He’s right about pirating being stealing, but like he said he’s all for technology and sharing music. He’s jumped headfirst into the digital age, releasing a NIN album for free online. And Fred Durst is a moron lmao.
the And all that Could have Been DVD is great. What a stellar performance and amazingly mastered and mixed sound. Interesting interview thank you for posting.
oh,okay
sexy
was born on this day lol mad
Damn he's got that Prince haircut and beard combo
Durst is a moron, true.
Illegal Downloading killed the music business. Back in the Day NEW bands used to come out and have successful lengthy careers. Whats the LAST NEW band that came out that was actually good and made an impact and had a lengthy career???
Back in the day, new bands failed all the time - there could be a number of reasons why. The record industry has always produced one hit wonders.
nice scarf trent no really. i like it.
frr it looks so comfy
Turned out Trent was right.
Well, Fred Durst's a moron because he is Fred Durst. Trent Reznor is also a moron, not only because of his haircut, but also because he thought nobody should be allowed to listen to his music without paying for it. This transition of the music industry was interesting, we could spot good artists acting like businessmen about to bankrupt... Trent, I've downloaded all your halos through napster! I've reserved a table for you and Fred at moron's restaurant, so there you can eat my shit!
"Nice to be here (not really)."
Of course you can associate him with drugs but he is a musical mastermind and has come out with masterpieces.
also he did a ton of drugs
and made fantastic music partly due to a lot of drugs
@@kylemundy2024 not really, drugs can only do much as to make you less critical of what you're doing... Strong emotions and skill make good albums
@@jessica5497 true, and I think an unfortunate reality is that drugs open us up to those super strong emotions in a unique way which can bring even more out of a person. Your perceptions are all distorted and you're honestly somewhere else most of the time. Not attempting to romanticize drug usage either 😬but no I am a gigantic fan of Trent and his work, he is a one-in-a-million musical mastermind and a strong as hell human being for overcoming the shit he's gone through.
Trent Reznor's views on distributing music might have changed but we can all agree that Fred Durst is STILL a moron.
I disagree, he's been on the right side of things most of the time and I still don't understand the hate for Durst. You don't have to be a fan of his music to understand he wants the fans to have the music and if they love it, they'll buy it. What's so shocking about that. It's bands like Metallica suing fans that's the problem.
You people are arguing over a 14 years old video, A LOT of artist changed their views on piracy since napster, Nine Inch Nails launched "The Slip", an full album for free on the web, Lars Ulrich and Sean Parker(creator of napster) hosted an press meeting TOGETHER to launch metallica on Spotify, many things changed and a few still are the same like Fred Durst being a moron.
choosing to giver it for free and planning is different than spending hundred of thousands of dollars in a studio to have it released in a way you didn't authorize, your examples aren't of peoples music being stolen
not to mention Trent encouraging fans to steal his music because the label rips people off
They never will, as any artist knows, record companies are all about money not the fans. One years Metallica is anothers years Slipknot. They want profit regardless of how the bands or artists feel. You want proof, look up Napalm Death.
